She continued to whack rhythmically at the desk with a smug
little grin that stated she wouldn’t stop until she was asked nicely
and without insult. Eventually surrender reared its head as the
girl sunk hers, and Avery smiled a little more warmly now. Pens
twirled between her fingers and with one last beat she tucked
them behind her ears.❝ Since you asked nicely, I’ll be nice. ❞

❝Thank you.❞
Mia’s head dropped back to stare at the book in front of
her for a few seconds before looking back up at the girl
sitting opposite her. Let’s be real, the last thing Mia really
wanted to be doing right now was studying. At least if
she was going to stick herself in these kinds of situations,
she should at least be social. After all, Kim and Adam
couldn’t be her only friends in life.
❝So – You a drummer?
Or just really good at keeping a beat?❞
